This Space for Rent

Well, this is my last post on this fair blog. It really is for a number of reasons, with a particular incident acting as a spark to finalize my decision. I realize any sort of gut wrenching, soul spilling explanation would be extraordinarily self serving and even more self-important then blogs are naturally. As a result, I won’t get into it very in depth.

I’ll just say what I’ve heard Steven Cohen say about his dealings with Chelsea. Its best to admire your team from afar and not actually get inside of it, because it will only cause you problems.
The crux of the situation came down to what the role of this blog and the position and demeanor of MLS and DC United should be. As these roles are undefined, there is a bit of gray area that causes some issues.

My “reporting” about the Real Madrid-DC United game in August was given to me by a source who I’ve dealt with in the past, and has been very forthcoming. I also dealt with two people in the Ticket Services department who made it seem as if this was a done deal, more with a nod and wink than a direct statement. So, I HENCEFORTH RETRACT MY STATEMENT ABOUT THIS GAME!! I DECLARE BANKRUPTCY!!!!!

But, if it still happens on that date, I was right. And I win the prize of internet vindication.

Anyway, this team is still my part time obsession. I still go to every home game, and watch every away game. I have my opinions, but I’ll just keep them to myself. I’m sure someone else is going to take the reigns here, just like I did from whoever was before. So keep coming here. Thanks for all the comments, thanks to the players for the interviews, and thanks to the people who run the Offside, and give us the platform to be internet vanity cases.
