Quick Reaction: 6/23 @ Salt Lake
By: Max J. | June 23rd, 2007Before the game, Esky caused a minor stir with some comments on United:
“They pride themselves on being the cream of the crop, and you can see by the quotes in the media and stuff that they have a bit of arrogance. They are good, and year in and year out they are one of the best teams, but we’ll come out with a sense of pride and try to shut them up.”
If only. If only there were a real arrogance about this team. If only these players looked around the visiting locker room at a college football stadium, taking in the players and the badge and the three stripes on their chest, and thought, “We are DC Fucking United. We are the pride of this league. What the hell are we doing in this backwater against this bunch of winless twits?” If only they’d gone out and stomped on some throats and rampaged like you’d expect a bunch of arrogant bastards to do. Instead they slinked off at the half, having been outshot 7-2 by the worst team in the league and down a goal, and never recovered.
There is simply no good commentary to make right now. The play was lethargic, the mistakes lethal, the roster choices horrendous. The fact that Jay Nolly started because the coaching staff felt it was just a good idea does not give me any confidence. And as much as I wish I could blame the mess up front on Dyachenko, nothing useful went on even after he was deservedly yanked. Salt Lake won despite never looking truly dangerous, and it’s the fate that United’s performance deserved.

Yo Max! You are right on bro! I have been saying that some of the decisions made by the coaching staff seem to come from novices. At the beginning they did not make the adjustments necessary after every game, and is obvious that the team is not ready to play in some games. What was the real reason Nolly started? What sense does that decision makes?
I got to be honest, I don’t like Tommy Suckehn, I mean Soehn just because so far he has shown that he doesn’t have the skills necessary to put together a team that plays good ball consistently; at least not now.
