Post Game Recap- DC 1, Chicago 0

By: jon | August 16th, 2008

Well, that was not quite a goal fest, but I don’t think we thought it would be. Crayton had a strong first game, and commanded his box. He was as advertised. Clean sheet in his first game…Zach has to be nervous with those kind of results. Think he’ll play in reserve games, or leave those to Thorpe?
Fred was MOTM, without a doubt. Great on the ball, scored the only game, and the real only attacking threat of the night.
Ratings: Crayton 7, Burch 6, McTavish 5, Namoff 6, Martinez 7, Fred 8, Simms 6, Quaranta 5, Guerrero 7, Moreno 6, Emilio 4 (neutralized entirely).
What do you guys think?

I’d give Martinez an 8 and Fred a 9 (ok, so I’m a softie), but I agree with all the others. Seemed like Emilio was fighting through something. He didn’t completely stink up the place, but he was decidedly absent for long stretches. Yeah, he was doubled a lot, but it isn’t as if that’s new. I’d like to see an enforcer added, someone who just comes in and nails people for messing with our stars, a Terry Hurlock kind of guy.

Yeah, I’m hoping we just found our starting keeper. On the other hand…

Wait, there is no other hand. If Crayton can promise me that kind of performance or better in the games to come, I’ll be just fine with it.

As always, thanks for your work Jon! I’m off to watch PhelpsBC. See ya!

Based on the Internet and nothing else, I give DC as a whole a 7. Sounds like an ugly game, but if we come out on top and are a post away from 2-0, I’m happy. Also, Fred’s goal was AWESOME!

I pity Zach Wells. Louis Crayton must have been sent from above, I swear. The box might be on semilockdown now, but our defense is still a little iffy. But with Martinez (the BEAST) I have faith. :)

…and did we ever have a doubt bout Phelps and Bolt? I didn’t. Heck no. And I have no doubt about DCU either, so it looks like we’re on the road to victoryyyyyy….(at least in my mind, where everything is colored black and red anyway)

Thanks to both of you, and see you around

Game is on CSN tonight, yaaaay. No Reis, yaaaaay. Still no Peralta, booo. Tsetse fly is back from injury to play forward for NE again, boo.

I’ll go with DC 3, Reis’ abductor 2.

Dude. We have Comcast SportsNet. That already is a good sign. :)

I think we can edge out NE, not by much, so I agree. But I’m going with a more conservative 2-1. We’ll see.
