Game Recap- DCU 5 (!)- Harbor View 0 (DCU advances to Semi Finals)
By: jon | March 18th, 2008Well, that was a barn burner! It didn’t start out that way with weak wing play in the first half, bad touches by key players, and indecision in the final third. But the second half was a different story.
I will leave the recaps to the professionals, but I will give you my observations about things that stood out.
Fred-7 (started off very weak, and showed that he doesn’t have a left foot in any capacity. looked much better when he moved to the center alongside Quaranta)
Emilio-7 (showed some hustle, but looked harmless in the first half. second half, it was good old fashioned poaching Emilio)
Quaranta-9 (put a stamp on the game with great vision, good touch, and three assists. he looked a little pissed at first when his shot was blocked and Emilio put it in, but it looked like he realized that was kind of dick, and went to congratulate Emilio. should start next match)
Niell-6 (if endeavor and effort was all the game is about, Niell would be a superstar. but its not, so he isn’t, and he acted like Ruiz out there. want to see better)
That’s it for tonight. What did you all think?Barra

Sorry, I’m only reading up on United because of Niell’s presence…what is the “acted like Ruiz” line referring to?

Flying around and falling down if he’s breathed upon. At least, thats what it looked like from my seats.

pish posh…the poor guy is fighting a man’s battle in a hobbit’s body. I don’t watch much MLS, but I do wonder if that’s something that he will have to adjust. Around here, he was actually known to be a player who didn’t flop or dive, but that doesn’t mean much, now does it?

I admit, he wasn’t dealt the best hand in the stature department, but I doubt he is unbalanced as he portrayed last night. I’m willing to be convinced otherwise, I (and apparently most Americans) hate seeing a player who’s game revolves around falling and winning free kicks, and that exclusively.

There’s been a lot of Niell bashing, not necessarily by you but in general, and it’s not entirely deserved. The guy is as big as I am (let’s just say that’s tiny), and he’s pulling it off with some dignity. He manages to put his mark on the game, meanwhile, he’s got huge Jamaican athletes tackling him left and right. I thought he was pretty good.
Other than that, the scoreline speaks for itself
Harbor View FC just got owned . com is awesome!!

Catherine,
I’ve said that I’ll reserve judgment until I see him against non hacking competition. But if he can’t hack it against physical defense, he won’t make it here.Posted from

True. I give him a lot of credit, but what you say is true…the game here is very physical.
