The Pre-Game: 7/22 @ The Enemy
By: Max J. | July 20th, 2007Again, can’t watch this game, but maybe for the better vis a vis my sanity. Does this lineup make you feel good?
Perkins, Gros, Boswell, Vanney, McTavish, Mediate, Carroll, Gomez, Fred, Emilio, Addlery
Yep. Didn’t think so. And there aren’t really a ton of variations available on that theme this week (assuming that Tommy doesn’t view this as essentially a lost week and thus won’t go experimental with the lineup). Between the injury woes and the way United has played on the road this year, do not expect a fun viewing experience. Yes, The Enemy has been horrible of late, but if ever there were a game for them to snap out of it, this is it. At home, against their most hated team, facing an opponent in a bad spot.
I would be very, very happy if United manages to scrape a tie out of this game, but I don’t think it will happen. Not only do I not think we’ll score, I have no confidence in the current team’s ability to bunker for a scoreless draw. Granted, I didn’t see the offense on display for the Dallas game, but everything I’ve heard suggests that Jaime was the major spark plug that day. If he’s gone, not to mention Ben, I feel bad things in the offing.
Prediction: DC United 0-2 Those Assholes.
(By the way, with everything bench-wise falling apart at the moment, does anyone else feel a SuperLiga tank job coming on? It seems to make sense, and though I like silverware, I like the league title a lot more.)
