Snap Judgements: DCU 3, TFC 2
By: jon | May 24th, 2008Just got back from the game a little while ago. After 4 straight losses, DC looked strong and won all three points. Although they didn’t come out of the gate firing, after the first TFC goal, the team woke up, and began “playing for our colors” as the Barra Brava sign implored them to do. Players that stood out in terms of effort and drive were Fred, Gallardo, Peralta, and Namoff.
Santino is out of his element on the wing, and despite Soehn shifting him to the left side half way through the 1st half, it didn’t matter. He has trouble crossing the ball when moving, and he has no left foot. At all. His play wasn’t all bad, as his interplay with Namoff was very effective.
Gallardo was effective at holding the ball, but his thru balls were a yard ahead almost every time, and the forwards still haven’t figured out what to do, or don’t have the speed to get there.
Emilio. What can I say? He still has no touch, he still takes plays off. He can’t create his own chances, and his goal was more fortuitous than skillful. But you know what? They all count. So good for him.
Wells still hasn’t figured it out. Slow off his line, and not a commanding presence. He made a save or two when it mattered tonight. So, whatever.
Ok. bed time. Share your observations in the comments.

It’s about time we started winning 50/50 balls. While it’s true that there are a lot of problems left to be fixed (Wells’ command of his area, his communication with the defense, a couple of defensive lapses by the center backs yet again, Niell still on the roster, etc.) at least you can’t say that the guys weren’t trying really hard.
It seems to me that last night’s game was the very type of performance we needed. We needed to prove to ourselves this year that we could come from behind – we did that twice. Maybe a blowout would’ve left us all in better spirits, but the fact that it’s obvious to all that we need to keep working hard should help us in the long run.
I’m left wondering what this means, since it was a home game against a team that has yet to win at RFK. I’m left wondering if this is the beginning of something or a passing blip.
Thursday’s game – our 4th in 13 days, on the road, against a tough opponent – should tell us a LOT.

Congrats to DC on the win, but they are going NOWHERE with that useless keeper. Sailed under the cross on the first goal, and my grandma would have saved that sidefoot from Dichio before the half. Also looked weak on the goal on Wednesday.
