Snap Judgement: DCU 4, RSL 1

By: jon | April 26th, 2008

Just got back from the friendly confines of RFK, and I’m well happy. Also, I got to watch my Blues keep the league exciting this morning, all over an Irish breakfast. Happy Jon.

Anyway, some quick observations before a recap post and some pictures tomorrow morning.

-Emilio is lost, lost, lost. I think he needs to sit one out to wake him up, because it has to be mental. Your instinct doesn’t disappear that quickly.
-My boy Santino had a decent game, despite having to mind his defensive responsibilities more than getting up in the attack. He did have a monster goal, which leads me to…
-Gallardo was putting his stamp on the game in the midfield. And his goal HAS to win goal of the week, once they put up the link, I’ll post it here, and make you vote for it under the threat of violence. When he keeps the ball, he’s a force. Right now, there are no forwards who are reading his passes correctly.
-Dunno what happened to Fred, but hopefully he’s alright. He was crap after he knocked heads with an RSL player.
-Gonzalo Martinez is a bulldog, and I think he is fantastic.

-Also, my seats are bananas. Two rows from the corner flag on the loud side.

Back tomorrow.

    Nice seats….

It was fun to be there last night for the game. Stop by our site for some photos from the game.

Maybe I will swing by your seats next time and introduce myself.

    Go United!

Word is that Fred’s injury was simply a contusion, and not something that will keep him out for any length of time. He should be ready to go for the next game.

If he is, I’d like to see us keep the 3-5-2. with the same backline as last night (Namoff - Peralta - Martinez). Burch starting on the left wing. He played well coming in for Fred and actually stays out on the wing like a winger is supposed to, giving us adequate width. Fred on the right, with Simms backing up Gallardo. I too would like to see Emilio sit as penance, and on the flip side, reward Tino by starting him up top with Moreno. Niell has disappointed me, and Doe isn’t qualified to play just yet. Whaddya think?

Loved Gallardo’s goal as well, but me thinks the rest of the league will vote for Sasha Kljestan’s curling goal from distance in the NotYetSuper3YearOldClassico.

    Spectre,
Your lineup seems right. I like the three in the back, and Tino getting the start up top. I’ll call Tommyboy.

Gueverra up in goal of the week 52%, Gallardo 27%, Donovan 11%, Klejstan 10%, Tino 1%- Only you can stop Canadian ballot stuffers-vote Gallardo now.
