Offseason is officially on
By: jon | November 14th, 2008Well, with the close of an unsuccessful season, many a blog will go into a winter hibernation. I have a feeling this blog will suffer the same fate. Although, like my Nationals blog, I will update as notable things happen, or when I want to talk about anything team related.
Some news and notes:
* Fred appears set on a 5 game loan to A-League side, Wellington Phoenix. This move was given the blessing of the front office, and I think should be good for him, barring injury. He needs to regain his scoring touch and confidence, and I hope a brief stint in New Zealand will give that to him.
* Zach Wells, who I’d like to see stick around on a reduced salary, had a bone in his foot removed, which was the same foot bothering him during the season. He’ll be ready for Preseason.
* In other DC Players under the knife news, Jaime Moreno had knee surgery this past week, cleaning up some things (an articular cartilage cleaned and a meniscal defect removed). He should also be ready to go in the Spring.
That’s all I got for you. Check back occasionally!

actually it’s 6 games. i’m a little confused, here in australia fred is regarded as being one of the best players to play in the A-league in melbourne he’s a club hero, but i’ve heard mixed reports of how well he’s doing in the U.S, is he considered a good player in the states? probably just that MLS is prehaps a little higher in standard than the A- league, but is he considered to be average, among the best in the club, below average?

depends on who you ask. ask me, I’d say he’s one of the best talent-wise, but inconsistent so he gets an ‘above average.’ he’s not jaime moreno or juan pablo angel, but he’s not quite middle-of-the-road either.
