NOW It’s On…

By: Max J. | June 13th, 2007

There seem to be two major results from the glorious win over New York:

1) Benny’s well-deserved Player of the Week nod
2) A karmic nightmare of “We’re Back and You’re All @#$^ed!” self-congratulation from our fans

Whether or not DC is back is going to depend on the next four weeks, not the result of the Red Bull game. Jaime’s Copa America call-up is doing for the team what Tom Soehn probably wanted to avoid facing himself (DCenters has a spot-on post on the topic): giving us our first sustained look at The Offense Of The Future and allowing Fred/Emilio/Kpene a chance to finally work together full time. If there’s more playing time for Casal and Addlery, we’ll finally see the entire impact of the off-season and if it will work in the long term.

The sad fact is that Jaime’s call-up means a lot more to Jaime’s future than DC United’s. If United keeps up current form through his visit to Venezuela, he’s coming back to a bench spot.
