Kpene Contingency Plans
By: Max J. | June 14th, 2007No updates on Kpene’s fitness for Saturday as of yet, so let’s speculate. If he’s not available, who plays opposite Emilio against Chicago? It seems like Dyachenko may have some momentum for the spot, but I’m not a fan. Of Rod? Yes. Of Striker Rod? Not so much.
It should remembered that we drew in LA in large part because of speed issues, with the attack busting out the e-brake at the wrong moments. And conversely, taking the game to New York swiftly and aggressively got the results. Rod is a lot of good things, but he’s not quick. Not that Addlery is a ridiculous speed demon, but he gets the edge here. I understand there’s a decent case to be made that, against Chicago with their callups and injuries and run of ass-like performance, it’s the time to experiment. My rebuttal is that we need the momentum more than the sneak preview, so my vote goes to Addlery and his recent Olsenesque reserve scoring for the starting nod.
(There are some other, more interesting options as well, but more on that tomorrow.)
