Game 1: DC United 2, LA Galaxy 2
By: jon | March 22nd, 2009I’ll have the full write up done tomorrow because a) I’m moving soon and have to pack and b) I’m too disgruntled to give you a good recap.
This game should have been at the most 2-1, and at the least 2-0. These were points stolen by bad luck and bad refereeing.
For the glass half full outlook…HEY! We got a road point, showed some skill going forward, kept a clean sheet for most of the game, Benny got in a good run, and we didn’t lose any players to season ending injuries.
Sigh.

Absolutely disgusting refereeing as usual in MLS. How Kovalenko wasn’t sent off for his foul on Gomez which led to the penalty is a mystery to me – he was clearly the last man! I won’t even start on the penalty LA was given for an apparent “handball”.
Definitely feeling your anger here…I know we’ll have one of these games too at some point during the season.

The MLS has gone to new lengths to try to make LA the “super club”. I don’t know how in the world that penalty was called.
