As The (DCU) World Turns..

Get one last look at this guy, cause you’ll never see him in a United jersey ever again. The drama has unfolded, and the damage has been done.
Here’s a basic recap of the drama. Gomez wants to get paid. He thinks he’s a “million dollar player”. In the MLS, this means “Designated Player”. I imagine, as a GM, it’s hard to give more money and a special spot to a player who’s been with you for a long time. So, Gomez has been fielding offers from Dubai ($600k this year) but he also doesn’t want to leave MLS. SO there are possibilities for him, I’m sure, with Colorado looking more and more like the likely destination. All of Gomez’s concerns about wanting to get paid more are understandable, and so are the moves by the front office. But this is where Gomez turns this whole thing into a bad soap opera.
EVIDENTIALLY, Gomez’s poor widdle feelings were hurt when DC was pursuing Veron. Despite the fact that they could have both potentially roamed the midfield for United, Gomez didn’t want to share that spotlight. Although, this also could have been a money issue, people close to the situation say that Gomez had been taking everything very personal.
That’s just silly. Business is buisness, Christian. You’re were going to be well compensated, AND you’d have a chance to win the cup each year with DC. Now you’re going to ply your trade elsewhere. Probably with the Rapids. Good luck with a cup run there.
This move clears up the space for Marcello Gallardo. I’ll write more on him if the signing goes through. The way this offseason has gone, I’m not wasting internet ink on things that might not happen.
What do you all think about Gomez’s behavior?

Right not the too personal and too emotional judgement comes from an anonymous source on the other side o fthe negotiating table so I won’t hold that against him. Both sides are justified in their decisions, but I am kind of upset at the league rules and structure that makes an accomodation so hard.

Here’s my take Gallardo:
http://riverplate.theoffside.com/argentina/muneco-to-us.htmlIt’s a shame about Gomez, a player I always had respect for. I remember the look on his face when he scored that goal in the game against Chicago, and the shock when it was called back for handball. I hope things work out for him.

I remember that moment too…would have been my favorite DC moment ever, as I was running around my house screaming and jumping. Oh well. I think he’s a great player, but not a DP.
I kind of hate the DP rule.Posted from
